What is Thai LTR

Thailand is introducing a new visa called "Long Term Resident (LTR) Visa", which provides a series of tax and non tax incentives to increase the country's attractiveness to the regional centers where high potential foreigners live and do business. This new visa program is expected to attract new foreign residents, technology, and talent, contributing to domestic spending and investment while supporting economic growth. What are the privileges of LTR?

LTR privilege one

Enjoy the privilege of a 10-year renewable visa to extend your stay in Thailand.

  • Having assets of at least $1 million under the applicant's name
  • The lowest average personal income in the past two years was $80000 per year
  • Merge investment in Thai government bonds or directly invest in Thai registered companies or Thai assets worth at least $500000
  • The minimum non labor or passive income at the time of application is $80000 per year (please note that the personal income requirement for affluent pension recipients does not take into account labor income and wages)
  • If the non labor or passive income is less than $80000 but not less than $40000, the applicant needs to invest an additional $250000 to purchase Thai government bonds or directly invest in Thai registered companies or Thai real estate
  • Non labor or passive income includes but is not limited to pension, rent, capital gains, dividends, and interest payments
  • The lowest average personal income in the past two years was $80000 per year
  • If an individual's average income is less than $80000 but not less than $40000, the applicant must present other documents as proof of eligibility, such as a master's degree or higher degree certificate
  • Sign employment contracts with listed companies on the stock exchange or private companies operating for at least 3 years, with a total income of at least $150 million in the past 3 years
  • At least 10 years of work experience related to the current job position or professional field in the past 5 years
  • If an individual's average income is less than $80000 but not less than $40000, the applicant must present other documents as proof of eligibility, such as a Master of Science and Technology or higher degree certificate
  • Employed by Thai or foreign companies whose activities fall within the scope of the target industry, or the applicant must provide proof of professional knowledge in the field designated by BOI
  • At least 10 years of work experience in a specific target industry in the past 5 years. Applicants with a doctoral degree or higher and those working in Thai government institutions (including public higher education institutions, research institutions, and professional training institutions) are not subject to this requirement

Children and spouses of LTR visa holders also enjoy LTR visa benefits!

Required conditions: Purchase health insurance of at least $50000 or receive social security benefits in Thailand, or deposit and maintain a bank account balance of at least $100000 in the applicant's name within the past 12 months

Equity One

Legal spouse and children under the age of 20 of LTR visa holders (up to 4 dependents per LTR visa holder)

Equity Two

Medical insurance coverage should be at least $50000, or provide social security benefits for treatment in Thailand, or at least $25000 in savings.
